So I got my tax refund...

So I got my tax refund and what do I blow it on, hip-hop concerts and strippers! I drove to D.C. to see the Rakim & Slick Rick show at the Howard Theatre. Rakim had a medical emergency and couldn't perform :( so Jadakiss filled in for him. Anyway, normally when I'm in this area I always go to club Fuego because I love Latinas. However, as much as I love Fuego, I like trying different clubs. So based on some positive reviews and the fact that this club is only 30 minutes from where the concert was held, I decided to try Showcase!

I arrived at the Showcase Theater about 30 minutes after midnight on a Saturday. Like many clubs, this club is tucked away and not close to many other businesses. The cover charge was $20. That's steep, but Fuego charges $22 and I'm pretty sure the cost to get into any club in this area is right around the same price. This place has a system that I've never seen before. You can buy this little red cup and put your own alcohol in it. This is a BYOB club. The part that sucks is you have to go back to your car to refill your alcohol and that can get annoying.

After paying my cover, they gave me this little receipt and stamped my hand. Then you give your receipt to the guy who's working by the door. When you first go in, the the stage is off to the left and there's a little station towards the back of the club where you can get change, buy energy drinks, gatorade, etc. The club was packed, as expected on a Saturday night. The club mostly has chairs scattered around it, but they also have a few couches (by the front row of the stage) that are more comfortable. No smoking here, awesome!
