This club is occasionally maligned as bit of a sleepy dive, and I can certainly see how this reputation present itself. I, on the other, absolutely love Beach Girls. I've been visiting the club since its days as a good ole boys' redneck whiskey & beer juke joint. It was a fun bar to unwind at after a long work day, or a great place to kill the final hours of a Sunday evening, before returning to the daily grind.

Back then it was strictly a bikini bar, with a more playful and friendly vibe than a sexy one. West Des Moines law enforcement, unfortunately could not leave well-enough alone, and officers were constantly busting girls indecent exposure. As a result, club management decided to stop serving liquor, and made the club into what it is today: a full-nude BYOB strip club.

I visited the club around 8:30 on a Saturday night. Road construction at the I-35/Grand Avenue exit had the most viable point of access to BG completely blocked, causing a delay in my arrival. (If you are coming from Des Moines, you'll need to take the Mills Civic exit and head south on 60th.) This, and chilly temperatures, could have accounted for the serious lack of evening patronage. I would estimate there were about 15 guys in the club: mainly small groups of college-age fellas with their cases of Bud Light,who really should have been spending their weekend chasing legitimate tail; a few middle-age guys like me, tired of chasing said tail; and the rest, horny grandpas with nothing better to do with themselves.
