This is a review of Bazookas...
This is a review of Bazookas Day shift based on half a dozen visits late last year and early this year. As of my most recent visit street construction continues to disrupt traffic in front of the club and for several blocks north and south. It involves shifting detours and side-street closures. There is no on-street parking and BZ’s lot is often crowded. For those arriving by car and unfamiliar with the area it may be best to park in the Bulldog Bar & Grill overflow lot one block east on Walnut. Bulldog and BZ have the same owner. Be aware of the potholes!
All of my recent visits have been Wed through Sat; I have no recent experience with Sun through Tues. Cover is $10 except on Sunday [$15]. Your day ticket will get you free admission that night. Your soft drinks are free; regular dancer drinks are $3. Couch dances are done topless, are one-way, and cost $20 per song.
The club layout has been described before; I’ll highlight some of the differences from night shift. There are no ‘bouncers’. The DJ is de facto day manager and is responsible for managing the stage rotation and monitoring couch dances and VIP, all from his booth. There is usually a waitress though sometimes a working dancer will serve as well as take a turn on stage or do LDs, VIP with customers. Music is loud but low enough in volume to carry on a conversation without shouting. The floor seating area and the couch dance area are more brightly lit than at night.
