Last Wednesday, I stopped by Cabaret...

Last Wednesday, I stopped by Cabaret Royale for the first time in many years. I have good memories from back in the day, but time has not been especially kind to this club. In the late 90s, it was featured on The Playboy Channel as the best club in Dallas. The club itself is still nice. (Park for free; enter and choose either upstairs or downstairs; comfortable chairs; decent sightlines). But in 2015 - at least at lunchtime on a weekday - it was dead.

Maybe ten guys -- mostly blue collar -- on their lunch breaks enjoying the "free" buffet. And it seemed like there were even fewer dancers than customers. (Perhaps there were others, all in the back, texting and talking.)

At any rate, the 6s and 7s who took the stage (only one was active when I arrived) did their short-ish sets then disappeared. They weren't unfriendly, just not interested.
