First time visit to Hong Kong, so I did my homework by reading the reviews on this site and taking notes. It really paid off.

First off, a few things that I haven't seen covered in other reviews.

For the trolley (Blue Line), you have to buy a ticket at an automated kiosk prior to boarding. There was no one to ask when I first boarded, and I didn't spot the kiosk on my own, so I just boarded and figured I'd buy the ticket onboard. When I realized my mistake I disembarked, bought a ticket, and caught the next trolley. Also, they didn't actually collect any tickets. I COULD have gotten away with riding for free if I'd wanted, but my guess is they spot-check and occasionally go around and actually check tickets. I would imagine the consequences are pretty severe if they catch you trying to freeload.
