Came here after not visiting a while. Showed up about 7, went right to the bar assuming it was too early for someone to be working the door. I stood at the bar when I guy almost tackled me asking for my id, I showed him and was confused because I'm just past 30 and am not known for having a baby face. I obliged and then he told me there was a $5 cover. I was once again confused seeing how early it was in the night and it was no where near busy. I paid with out a fuss. I sat at the bar near the end and the door. I couldn't help but notice people coming in. Some were asked for id, others weren't but were greeted. I noticed only about half paid a cover and no one paid $5. I wondered if that was the price I paid for not being there in so long.
I ordered a bottled beer. 3.75, which I didn't find too terrible. I moved to a table still relatively close to the bar. I went to a the stage a few times to show my appreciation for the show. It was still quiet and most everyone stayed away from the stage. I drank my beer and ordered another. Bartender was great. Beautiful and personable.
I was more than willing to get numerous dances, including asking for them at the stage, yet none of the dancers came to talk to me after they got off stage or while walking around. Most seemed content with just sitting with the regulars. I enjoyed sports on both TVs as the night went along. There was a shift change at bartender right before I ordered my next beer. Another beautiful bartender who was personable and fun to be around. One problem... My beer increased in price to 5.00 with out any notice. When I told her what I was paying before she said that she didn't know what to tell me and I must have been charged wrong. I sucked it up, figuring as the night went on, I would get my money's worth. Still kept going to the stage here and there in appreciation. I seemed to the only one outside of random guys going up to give a dollar and walk away. Dancers didn't change much. They didn't seem willing to try to get dances or even tried to sell it. They just sat and hung out until it was there turn to be on stage. As the night went on the regulars left and the more boisterous crowd came in. I walked to the bathroom and over heard a guy paying $4 for the same beer I was drinking. He seemed to know the bartender in some way. I gave her a look and she must have gotten the point. She said the next one was on her and only charged me 4.25 for the rest of the time (outside power hour).
I finally got the dance I was looking for. It was good. When the song ended, she got herself together and stepped away before I could even ask for another. I handed her a 20 (the dj said the price was 20/song). She told me it was 25 for her because she was "extra special. " I laughed and gave it to her, didn't seem overly special but like I've said before, that's what I get for not being a regular. I walked out and looked at the clock. According to the clock by the bar it was 11:02. I asked for a beer and when the bartender said 4.25 I asked about the power hour. She said the clock wasn't right and it wasn't the time yet. I paid just as my friends walked in. I went to meet them at the door. I noticed the bartender rang in 3.00 on the cash register with the 6.00 I gave her. My friends said they were buying rounds so I shrugged it off... Let her make that money because I was done paying for my drinks. I sat at a bigger table with my friends and a few dancers stopped by. My friends and I took turns asking for dances and offering to by drinks. Both offers came with an answer to later to all of us. We enjoyed the power hour and hustled to get the most bang for our buck. When it came to my turn to buy a round, the time on my cell said 11:54. The bartender charged me full price. When I questioned her she pointed to the clock (the one she said was wrong earlier) which read 12:03 and said time just passed. I gave her a $20 for the $19 tab. She put the $1 right in her bucket, without considering giving me change. I stayed mostly for my friends. They said another in the area had closed and another was even more expensive. I got another dance. It was much better than the first. I did 4 songs and when it was done, I handed her $100. I bought her a drink after too while she sat with us.
This club hasn't changed much interior wise since I first went there 10 years ago. It is in major need of a cleaning/ remodel. Money needs to be put into, so they will probably make even more money. The "vip" area is just a sheet hanging from the ceiling and features old very worn furniture. The staff needs to gain a level of consistency. Prices needed to be standardized and harder for employees to charge different amounts for different people. I don't know if I will be returning when I'm back in the area.
