Arrived at the Cheetah just after...
Arrived at the Cheetah just after midnight on a Tuesday. Cheetah is a huge club and has been well described in previous reviews. Cliff notes version: Good size bar as you walk in and then a huge dance floor and seating area in the middle and a good size bar in the back. Mini dance floor as well. I rarely go to the Cheetahs as I do not as a rule like their dancer mix which seems to be mostly white, Russian and a couple of AA girls on each shift. A friend of mine gave me a free drink card - so I figured what the heck I would give it a shot - risking only the cover charge. The cover at $5 on this night was very reasonable - especially for a Miami club. As i walked into the front of the club I looked for a seat by the bar but no luck - all seats were taken. I headed across the club to the back bar. It was fairly crowded back there as well. I decided to just stand by the back bar and have a beer. When I approached the bartender I was a little embarassed to give the free drink coupon as couponing it really isn't my style. So I reluctantly order a beer and submitted the coupon. The bartender returns the card to me and says you have to go back to the front desk where you walked in to use the coupon - said they will give you a ticket. For a second, I thought screw it - I will just pay for the drink - then figured what the heck let me walk all the way back. I walked across the entire club back to the front desk and handed the coupon to the attendant - she took a couple of minutes and gave me a ticket and told me to present it to the bartender. I walked all the way back to the bar handed it to the bartender. She then told me that for a beer I would have to pay one dollar. WTF It says free drink right on the coupon. No way i was going to argue the point - just gave her three dollars for the drink and a two dollar tip. I was thinking how unprofessional and a terrible way to treat a customer. If you get suckered into one of these - beware. Now on to the club - most of the girls were average at best. Most of the customers were drinking - only a few tipped and I only saw one person dancing in the lap dance area which I believe is $25 per song. Table dances were ten dollars and I do not recall seeing anyone taking them. Confusing to me - my only analysis is that most of the clientele are there to enjoy the environment and drink. The dancers must rely on the few high rollers that come in to make their money. I can't say I enjoyed my time there much - perhaps hardened by how awesome the dances and action is in the clubs in South Miami. I tipped one girl I met there by the bar for a few dances but really just felt bad she wasn;t making money. The atmosphere here at this club is just not my cup of tea. It may be right for some that like the laid back style of listening to music, socializing and drinking. For my taste, I don;t think I will be back anytime soon.
