I went to the Showcase Theater...

I went to the Showcase Theater after midnight on a Saturday night. The club is located off the Old Baltimore Pike in an industrial/warehouse area. It was a little shady with people hanging out in their cars in the parking lot. Cover is a steep $20, but the club does not have alcohol sales. You can bring your own alcohol into the club after buying a red Solo cup inside the club for $5. Bottles and cans are not allowed inside the club so you have to keep running back and forth to your car to refill your cup with whatever poison you choose to drink. A stamp on the back of your hand, given to you when you paid the cover charge, facilitates this. If you are a heavy drinker, this BYOB system could keep your costs down. At a counter in the back of the club, drinks like cans of Red Bull or bottles of Gatorade could be bought for $5 each. The clientele is a mix of homie g’s, day laborers, mahouts, government workers, and Terrapin frat boys, but somehow everyone gets along. The staff is friendly and is not too intrusive like a lot of clubs.

Inside there were two stages with poles on the left side wall, divided by a rail. Tables and chairs covered the majority of the main room. When I got there, every chair was taken, so I sat in a line of couches running parallel to the long stage. This line of couches is where you sit to tip the dancers on stage. Dancers would get fully nude on stage and come off and give the guys sitting on the stage side couches mini lap dances. It was an excellent value for just a dollar or two. Lap dances take place in an alcove in the front of the club. Privacy is almost nonexistent, and it is likely there will be other patrons getting dances on adjacent couches. Bikini dances are $20, and topless dances are $30 in the alcove. There are also VIP rooms off of the main room that offer more privacy. You pay the club $20 up front to use one. Topless dances are $30, and nude dances are $40 in the VIP rooms.

Dancers comprised of all backgrounds: black, white, mixed, Hispanic, Asian, and Russian. Interestingly, every one of them had a large ass proportional to their frame. Perhaps the club was discriminatory in its hiring in this regard. Their ages ranged from younger 20’s to mid-30’s. The top dancers were 7’s and 8’s, while the ugliest was probably a 4.5. While there were no Penthouse Pets, there were also no repugnant beasts.
