I've known about the Gold Club...

I've known about the Gold Club for years, but just never really got around to checking it out. That is until last night when, while in the neighborhood, I decided to treat myself to an early Christmas gift and popped in. It wasn't exactly what I'd expected, but I'm glad I visited.

The first thing anyone will tell you about the Gold Club is that it's not the easiest place to find. Luckily, I am familiar with the area so I knew that Chancellor St is more of a back-alley than an actual street, and that this particular section of Chancellor is a dead-end. That can be off-putting to some visitors but I like the fact that not every drunken yahoo walking around Center City Philly on a Saturday will see me walking in and out of a strip club.

Once you're inside, the place is really tiny; probably not much bigger than most people's furnished basements... and with super-low ceilings that emphasize the coziness. That said, there is enough room for a stage featuring two dancers on poles that get the obligatory wipe-down every time a new girl comes up.
