Stopped by the Satin Doll last...

Stopped by the Satin Doll last Friday for the first time in quite a while. The time-clock hadn't been introduced last time I was there and I was interested to see if it was as bad as I'd heard. The Doll used to be my favorite club in Providence, so I was quite looking forward to visiting it again. The new entry to the club still bugs me - I much preferred entering into the reasonably well lit bar area, rather than walking into the area next to the stage, but having stumbled over a few chairs while my eyes adjusted to the dark, I found a seat at the bar and got myself a still-reasonably-well-priced beer and took in the sights. The club hasn't changed much since I was last here and still has the nice relaxed friendly atmosphere that I used to enjoy so much. Unsurprisingly there are a lot of new girls too - and I think they are still at the top end of the scale for RI clubs. The club was pretty busy for the time of day, which turned out to be a problem. Although tipping at the stage still gets you a nice mini-dance (although the girls don't seem to go topless anymore), I was looking to try a private dance with the new time-clock in action. But I was only there for an hour, and in that time the girls were all being kept busy by other customers, so I didn't get the chance. That means I didn't get to experience the thing that has upset so many regulars here - and that means that in summary I would have to say that this is still a great little club. The time-clock seems to have upset a lot of people, but the club was still busy enough to suggest that management are still getting something right. A nice atmosphere, a nice setting and some pretty girls is enough for me to say that this is definitely a club I will keep coming back to.
