Went to Hong Kong Sunday, so...

Went to Hong Kong Sunday, so on Monday I decided to check out Adelita's Bar. Since I'm unlikely to get to Tijuana again in my lifetime, I didn't want to pass up the chance to sample the one other TJ club which has garnered so many reviews here. I'm glad I did, but only so I can say "Been there done that."

I arrived about 5:00; no cover, but was patted down briefly. According to a commemorative sign on the wall inside, the place has been open since 1962 – and it looks it. (The sign says "Celebrating 50 Years: 1962-201 " – that’s right, no final "2" on that date. Probably fell off in 2013.) Garish lighting illuminating bright red walls. Very loud music.

Unlike HK, there was no hustle from the waiters – not one approached me. I got a bottle of water at the bar for $3.25, and pretty much hung out there for about 45 minutes.
