I went to Babe’s Cabaret on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30. There was no cover charge, but a one drink minimum. The club was packed with what seemed like tourists. Most of them seemed more interested in the SEC football game being played on the projector screen behind the stage than they were in the dancers. The problem with the projector screen was that the brass pole was in the way, so the shadow of the pole cut the football game into two halves. This was annoying. The stage is on the left side of the main room, and the bar is on the right side. Everything in between is tables and roller chairs. Babe’s Cabaret, the only independent club on Bourbon Street, is cleaner and in better repair than a lot of the other peel joints on Bourbon Street. A beer cost me $9, so I made sure to nurse it while taking in the stage show.
The dancers were not very appealing, and seemed almost annoyed that they had to go on stage for a few songs. Most would not remove their tops unless someone came up to tip them. I’d say the line-up were mostly 5’s and 6’s with about forty percent ebony, forty percent ivory, and a couple Latinas rounding out the ten or so dancers. There was one blonde spinner who I’d rate a 7. She was probably the nicest piece of ass on shift, so I took her to the back for a lap dance. The lap dance area is a few couches against a wall with absolutely no privacy or partitions. The club staff was able to watch me the entire time. Two-way contact was allowed, but there was no way I was going to push the envelope with so many gawkers. To the dancer’s credit, she rode me hard and gave me a good grind, but the lack of any privacy was too much of a mood killer to buy a second dance at the insane price of $40. I would not return to Babe’s any time soon.
