Got to Inner Room at about...

Got to Inner Room at about 11 Thursday night (I picked 'after midnight' because most of my visit was after 12). Parked on the street in the back of the club. I took my usual walk around the club when I got inside ($7 cover) and noticed that football was on in the back corner (to the right of the bar, which is to your right when you walk in: main stage is on the left)…where the smokers also hang out, apparently. Watched the end of Broncos/Chargers: the first dancer who spoke to me only did so to say that I was in her way. I took that as a harbinger for the rest of the evening. Thankfully, that turned out to be wrong.

IR is definitely a ‘neighborhood’ place: lots of girls sitting with their seeming regulars. That’s kind-of cool with me, as I’m used to black dives and nonstop hustle…but at the same time, I’d like for someone to say something at some point. It almost seemed like I crashed a house party. The talking/dancing ratio seemed high, especially for a place where dances are only $10 a pop.

Music was pretty good, although there was a noticeable shift after 1. There was more rap and the ‘dirty’ versions were played, as opposed to the more eclectic mix and cleaner versions of rap songs that I heard earlier. I like rap, so cool with me. Seating is really good, or at least it was that night. Staff isn’t pushy at all: it’s really easy to feel comfortable there, even with the lack of attention from dancers. Speaking of: about 16, most of them white (maybe about 10), four black, one who looked Latina, and one that I couldn’t really tell. She was fine, though; so it didn’t matter. One white girl was kind-of thick, the seeming Latina was really thick, and the rest were medium-to-thin. Most of them were in the 7-8 range, although there were a few 6s and one 10 (the racially ambiguous girl).
