I was stationed in San Diego...
I was stationed in San Diego from 2009-2012 and this was the club that I visited the most during that time. Although San Diego strip clubs sucks in terms of both quality and quantity, The Body Shop has always, in my experiences, been an exception due to its "grandfathered" status. I was yet again back in town recently and decided to visit for old time sake.
This place is located in the Midway area. Parking can be difficult to find even during the day. The cover charge is $10 and there is a mandatory two drink minimum at also $10. They hand out Lifetime Membership Passes after your first visit which waives all future cover charges (still have to pay for the two drink minimum.) The appearance of the club has not changed at all; still looks the same. I wouldn't necessarily say that it is seedy, but no doubt this club is definitely a total "dive". You can truly come as you are. There is a large stage with a tip rail, plenty of seating all around the club, eight lap dance booths located in the corners of the club, four pool tables, a little video game machine in the rear, and a small juice bar.
The dancers are hit or miss in terms of looks. Although I've never encountered any downright ugly chicks, most of them I would not consider "dime pieces". Mainly average looking 5's, 6's, and 7's. Some of them can work the pole, while others just simply go through the motions. As usual in San Diego, there is a mandatory tip after the dancers finish their "show". There are three ways to avoid the mandatory tip round: 1.) Enter and hide in the men's restroom immediately at the end of their show. 2.) Actively play pool with another person (this doesn't always work when there are little to no other customers inside) 3.) Play the arcade video game machine in the back (they almost always never go back there).
