Visited: Tuesday Evening

I visited Stiletto on a Tuesday evening for the first time in a year. Since my last visit, there have been many changes to the club. The club used to be a low key place where you could chill out in a relaxed atmosphere. You could either hang out at the stage and tip the girls or you could blend into the background and wait for the right girl for a lap dance. The lap dances were reasonably priced, aggressive and lasted a decent amount of time (usually the length of a song). In the past, you could spend a couple of hours at the club without going broke. The renovations and new policies have turned Stilettos into a high priced gentleman's club that pretends to be on par with the upscale New York City clubs.

Surprisingly, the admission was still $10 on a Tuesday night and the mandatory drink was still $8. I am not sure if those prices hold on more popular nights. The entire inside of the club has received a much needed facelift complete with numerous high definition TVs. The three stage set-up has been replaced with one large stage that is almost shaped like a cross. The stage basically takes up all the space in the club and can seat about 30-40 people. The chairs around the stage are bolted in. To be honest, I like the new set-up with the stage and the interior improvements. The problem is that all of the seating around the perimeter of the club is also gone. Everyone is forced to sit at the stage. Not only does this mean constant tipping of the dancer, it also means you can no longer sit and chat with your favorite dancer. It also means less seating for crowded weekend nights.

There is one couch along the wall, but it is surrounded by velvet ropes and guarded by a bouncer. I imagine that this is supposed to be a VIP area available for rent. I don't see why anybody would pay for this area. There is literally no room to walk around there and you are pressed right up against the chairs that are bolted by the stage. There is also no privacy. On this night, the only people using the fancy couch were other dancers who were busy playing on their cell phone instead of making the rounds.
