The Yellow Rose is a topless club located out on North Lamar Blvd. There’s plenty of parking to the right of the club.

It’s a single room club with two levels. The upper level has the main stage and the DJ booth. The lower level has a smaller stage and two bartending areas. There is no VIP room, but there are private lap dance rooms along the edges of both the upper and lower levels. These “rooms” seem to be just small cubicles really, with a couch and maybe a table, and a curtain that can be closed for privacy. The club has changed a lot since my college days. On the positive side, it’s now non-smoking. Also, the “hustle factor” seems to have decreased from what I remember. The waitresses never pushed me to buy drinks for the dancers, and the dancers themselves never tried to hustle me into buying them drinks. On the negative side, there’s a lot less seating now, which is a problem that’s made worse by the fact that the management seems to have the habit of putting a “Reserved” sign on every open table after 5 pm. The Yellow Rose I remembered had two small stages on the lower level, lots of tables, and lots of couches along the walls. The club seems smaller now, and I guess it is, due to the addition of the private lap dance rooms and the extra bartending area along the back wall. As for the music, there was some hip-hop, which I can’t stand, and also around 11 pm or midnight the music started getting so loud that it was hard to talk. For example, I had one dancer sitting on my lap practically shouting into my ear, and I could barely hear her. I don’t know why clubs don’t get this. If I can’t talk to the dancers, that’s not a good thing.

As for those private lap dance rooms, I can’t really comment on them since I didn’t use them. I will say that $100 for an hour seems really excessive to me. I guess I should comment that one other positive change, at least from the customer’s standpoint, is that the Yellow Rose used to have a no-touching policy. Now it seems to be at the dancer’s discretion. Some girls don’t want to be touched and will let you know in various ways. Other girls won’t mind, but of course this is an area where your mileage will vary, because it depends upon whether the girl likes you or not and how you treat her. So what I’m trying to say is, I don’t really know what extra benefits you’re going to get in the private rooms, because you can get some very nice dances out on the floor – at least that was my experience.
