No longer a place I enjoy....

No longer a place I enjoy. For many years, Anthony's was my favorite in the Springfield MA area. This review reflects half a dozen visits over the past couple of years. I reviewd Anthony's in 2009 and this is an update. The girls are fewer, less attractive than before, and less friendly. The place is slow on a weekday afternoon (the usual time I can go). Perhaps because of this, some girls sit with regulars and are not very available to walk-ins. The worst thing is what they did to the lapdance area. Lapdances are $25/song (uniform in this area; I'm told all the strip clubs in this area have a single owner). They replaced the comfortable upholstered chairs that were in the lapdance area for many years with black vinyl-covered (fake leather) benches with narrow seating areas and very high straight backs. These are uncomfortable as hell, and make it harder for the dancer to cuddle or interact creatively with the client. They still have a large stage and plenty of decent seating around the stage. At one point the replaced the chairs around the stage with uncomfortable ones, but thankfully they saw the light and put back the older more comfortable chairs. A couple of times I walked in (no cover in mid-afternoon) and was told by the bartender I was required to buy a drink. I objected since I have spent plenty in this place in past years. I didn't buy a drink, and they did not persist or throw me out. But who wants this kind of hassling?! Overall, I no longer enjoy going to Anthony's on weekday afternoons.
