I was in Portland for the weekend, and every single list of things to do in Portland says to go to a strip club. I've been to several clubs in LA, but this was my first club in Portland. Kit Kat Club is located in Oldtown Portland, which is filled with bars, restaurants, food trucks, and general activity on a Saturday night. Parking here would be near impossible, but fortunately it wasn't too far from my hotel, so I walked.
I arrived about 10:30pm. There was no cover, but the doorman informed me that I was required to tip at least $1 per song if sitting at the rail, and that cell phones were strictly forbidden; step outside if I needed to pull it out of my pocket. This seems obvious, but it's good to keep expectations clear.
Inside was a bar which has a full food menu; I saw no one eating; Jack & Coke was $6.50; there was a water jug and glasses at the end, which was nice. The place seemed clean & was brightly enough lit to see the dancers, but not too bright. There were about a dozen high-tables, and two stages. The main stage seats about 20 at the rail, the side stage seats 8. It seemed perfectly acceptable to sit at a table until a dancer you liked came on, then move to the rail, then move back to a table when she was done. When I arrived around 10:30, the place was perhaps 1/2 full of customers. By about 11:45, it had gotten much busier; there were still seats open (at both tables and the main-stage rail), but not many.
