I had a business trip that called for me to fly out on Labor Day to Rhode Island for a few weeks. Since I knew RI would be boring for me, especially on a holiday, I decided to take a lengthy layover through ATL. I rarely go clubbing on holidays, so I’m never sure if a club will be open or not. My experience is some clubs will close, other will be open and others will be closed for dayshift, but open at night. My layover was from noon to 7pm, which was perfect for dayshift clubbing and ATL was bound to have a few clubs open, right? I grabbed my rental car($30 for the day) and was off to da races! Well, 1st stop was Pleasers, which is close to the airport. I had intel that the place had caught fire and I confirmed it on this trip. The building is not burned down, but there is definite damage to the south end of the bldg near the signage and the front entrance is boarded up. Rumors are that a customer got into it with a security guard or dancer and returned to perform their rendition of “The Players Club”. Other rumor is that a disturbed wife (or wives) was behind the shenanigans…lol. There was also rumor that a Wally World was being built and that the club had been bought out…I doubt this is true (and the last time I checked with staff, the deal wasn’t happening). However, they are building a Walmart right across the street, so if the club does fix up and reopen, you can just get your condoms there instead of being ripped off by the attendant who sells goods in da club…lol!
