I use to frequent Hollywood Nights...

I use to frequent Hollywood Nights often back in the day when I had a number a friends that lived in the Hillsborough/Polk/Orange metro area. Most of them have been relocated so I haven't been back there as often as I used to. I live in south Florida but was in Tamps for work so I decided to check out the old stomping grounds. Prior to this visit it had been over a year since I had visited the Nights. Got there right at about 10pm and was immediately ask to pay $5 for parking. That was new to me. When I asked the guy if the lot across the street was free parking he replied "nope". He said that they only charge on certain night like Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday if I remember correctly. So I paid the guy. Upon entering I noticed that there was no one sitting at the front door to collect the cover so I just casually walked in and sat at the bar. Ordered a beer but, and get this, they were out of beer. Like really? How can a bar be out of beer. I really didn't want to order my usually hennessy on the rocks because I knew I had a presentation the next morning but I was left with no choice. So first 10 minutes in the nights, not really a good look. So I proceeded with caution for the next hour or so.

Hollywood Nights use to be a place where you could go in, listen to good music and get good quality dances and drinks. Although the dances were $10, back then they were worth it. Walking in, I could just feel something was different. The culture of that club had shifted. There were about 4 patrons including me and only two dancers on the floor. Ultimately there ended up being like 10 dancers which is good for a Tuesday night in any black strip club. Unfortunately for them the patron list never matched the amount of dancers. Another things is that a lot of the dancers seemed to be in the early to mid 20's which personally for me is not a good thing. In my experience, younger dancers seem to thing that their bodies, smiles, constant nabbing of the customer entitles them to be able to give dances when in actuality they've done nothing but piss the customer off. They don't know how to deliver a customer experience. This usually results in them walking up to the customer immediately saying "Do you want a dance"? The customer says no. And then they storm off to the next customer to regurgitate the same BS question. Eventually somebody says yes and ends up getting a lack luster dance. So I don't do younger dancers. 4 out of the 10 girls were in the back of the club gossiping about something. Big turn off. I got once dance from the only mature dancers in there and while you could tell she was older, her dance was not the high mileage you would expect. One of the few upsides to Hollywood Nights IMO is the fact that 90% of the seating in that place is high chairs at the bar. The have two bars which have a number of high chair seating at them. Those always make for good dances but it has to be with the right dancer.

Keep in mind Hollywood nights is not in one of the best Tampa neighborhoods but I have never had any issues. The place is well lit at night. Also they removed the VIP rooms a while ago even on my last visit a year ago they didn't have any. That was one of the best reasons to visit in the past. 10 dancers on a Tuesday leads me to believe that the weekends will have more dancers and more of a variety in regards to age as well. I'm not totally throwing the nights to the wolves, just hopefully next time they have beer and older dancers.
