I came here on a Friday...

I came here on a Friday night with a friend of mine. We were having drinks in a bar in SF, and we had visited another strip club in the area and had heard that this place was legendary, so we thought we'd give it a shot. Indeed, it is unique among clubs that I've been to in that it really does seem like anything goes, and even though it is expensive, it does seem like there are many people that are happy to pay top dollar for the services of these performers.

The club is a bit unusual in its layout; there's a very fancy entrance area that is very posh. It is a $40 cover, which is expensive to start. There's a literal theater, with three or four rows of seats, that's completely empty almost all of the time, but there is some adult film playing. There are other rooms where different events happen; I only visited two: the main stage, which has about three rows of seats on three sides of the stage, and a smaller lounge area with round tables where occasionally they'll have a pair of performers dance together. It's a bit unusual in that the staff will funnel people from one room to the other, which was a bit weird for both me and my friend.

The performers are of very high quality all-round. They're obviously professionals at what they do. But it's obvious that the main stage isn't where the focus is at, and rather it's on the private dances. Dances are $20/song for bikini, $40 for topless, $60 for nude, but tack on $20 to that for a tip, most dancers will insist. There's lots of touching in both directions, and they'll try very hard to sell you for a private room. I declined for the first performer, but was more tempted with a second performer that I opted for a dance from. This is where things got surprising. The first thing she quoted was "$500 for just me, $1000 for two of us", and told me very explicitly that I could "do whatever I want". I did negotiate the prices down, but it was still ridiculous. The private session was for half an hour, and she really was willing to do everything, although ironically I found that what I was comfortable with was more limited.
