The club building is in an out-of-the-way location in Van Nuys. The surroundings -- a small-office/light-industrial area east of the Van Nuys Airport -- are non-descript but not in any way threatening. Parking (both in the surface lot and on the street) was plentiful, especially since even a Saturday night did not attract a large number of patrons. The inside of the club -- at least the portion that I saw -- is remarkable, even by Spearmint Rhino's high standards. The striking and sculptural representations of fantasy-worthy women, the painted sky above the main stage,...I gave the Physical Club Rating a "9" rather than a "10" only because there is limited room for growth (in number of dancers and patrons). Of course, its location -- both specifically in a non-descript out-of-the-way-feeling neighborhood, and generally within the limits of the City of LA and the constraints that puts on the operation of clubs in general -- might limit its growth potential.
Let's face it though -- architectural ambiance is nice and fine, but guys don't get drawn to strip clubs because of their interior design. I suspect there were ~4-5 dancers in the lineup when I arrived ~1 am. Unfortunately, the quality (looks-wise) ranged from above-average to sub-ordinary, with the sequence of stage/pole dancers I observed generally following that downward trend as the night went on. I will say that the average investment of the La Perla girls in their stage-dance interaction w/rail-sitters was higher than what I've seen at Spearmint Rhino COI lately, although that's not a ringing endorsement. Pole-gymnastics talent is commendable, but it doesn't float my boat -- save it for somewhere else. Naturally, the best lookers seemed to be the least available and the least solicitous. Of course, there's a Latina emphasis here, with unapologetically ample booties generally accompanied by medium-small natural breasts. No one would confuse the dancer mix here with that at Spearmint Rhino COI, for instance. There was one very friendly and outgoing girl who was hustling with gusto to overcome her Oompa-Loompa physique. (If you've never seen a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film -- the original or the remake -- I guess you'll need to Google that term.) I didn't find a single nexus between availability and desireability during my stay, so I left without partaking in a single dance.
