I've been to clubs in four states since the last time I went to Silk, which once upon a time was a regular haunt of mine but is now fairly low on my list. This recent visit did nothing to help that feeling. <br>

Silk, to me, has become the Midwest's Walmart of strip clubs. By which I mean it's very accessible to general, run-of-the-mill, "go to a strip club once in a while to feel wild and crazy" folks, the same way Walmart is certainly very accessible to the general masses, too. This is due to Silk's mainstream advertising, an image it's given itself and relatively low pricing. However, you get what you pay for, and, much like Walmart, a business practice that's a little sneaky allows them to still put on a good show for the general public, but puts those of us who are really looking for quality in a tough spot. Accordingly, much the way no one would "recommend" Walmart to someone looking for quality or great value, I'm not going to recommend Silk to those looking for great mileage lapdances or much more than a night out with a few drinks and some naked girls on stage. <br>

I went on a Saturday night and the place was packed. This didn't feel like a typical strip club crowd, though -- not bachelor parties and monger riffraff, but a lot of couples, general parties and whatnot. It kind of felt like your typical trendy Milwaukee bar crowd. The stage has four poles and, on this particular night, a DJ in the middle of the stage spinning tunes. The stage forms an upside down 'V' when looked at from the back of the room, with a pole at each end of the 'V'. Girls rotate through the poles before coming off stage. Inside the 'V', lots of tables with chairs. One bar is right there when you come in the club from the "back left." Another is on the "back right", where there are more tables and some stairs to the VIP area. Pretty much every chair was taken, so I just stood in the back in front of what would normally be the DJ both, but on this night, was just home to the announcer. <br>
