So, I had last been to...
So, I had last been to the Big Apple just before this latest outpost of the Rick's corporate group opened (unusually close, barely 4 short-side blocks, to the flagship club) and having had a generally good experience at their locations, I wanted to check it out. I ended up going twice (let's hear it for cover-free passes -- during afternoon hours you may pick them up from promo guys at the corner of the block, and the cover/check girl will have some for you too), on a Thursday about ten thirtyish and a Saturday almost midnight.
As you enter you see the door staff making a good show of visible presence, which though it's a generally safe, clean area is always welcome. They are extremely courteous and mindful, they radio ahead for an inside host to greet you, guide you to the cover/coatcheck station and there to seat you. From the door, floor and bar staff you can tell the company has invested in training and/or hired for experience (and perhaps even brought in their best from other locations) to get this new spot going. That part impressed and one hopes it stays that way.
In the May 15 2014 review by JackKash there is a very thorough description of the interior layout, not much to add to that. The place obviously has the look and feel of new because it is, it will be interesting to see how it gets maintained. There was obvious effort put to maximize use of space since it IS a smallish building. If I could fault anything it would be the sound, they do seem significantly louder than other NYC locations, more of a regular dance-club sound level in the first floor (the balcony is more tolerable). I don't believe that is really necessary to convey the partying-place atmosphere (I don't like shouting at women in order to communicate). The lighting is good, which was nice because the talent was worth looking at: perhaps not all quite Playmate material but a decent deployment of girls of different types and colors. With the very tall pole on main stage, this opens up the possibility for fancier stage performance and I saw some rare-for-NY real polework, as well as a two-girls set which made me lament not having unlimited funding.
