Stopped by the Gold Club on...

Stopped by the Gold Club on a Thursday night after an absence of 6 or 7 months. It was not a good experience. I will say that the club is still as nicely maintained as ever. And lots of good looking dancers, so that wasn’t the problem. But, the atmosphere was dead. Customers mostly sat well away from the stage, and tipped at the stage only occasionally. No one sat near the stage. And the dancers showed little interest in the customers who were there. They did have “showtime” about once an hour, where all dancers took the stage and then came down for 2 for 1 dances, but for the most part, they just came down and went either to their regular customers or just sat together in groups ignoring the other customers. To make it worse, the bouncers were everywhere all the time. They closely monitored the “private” dance rooms (open front) and constantly walked through the club, I guess they were looking for any dancer who might flash something she shouldn’t flash at this bikini club. The whole atmosphere seemed geared to making sure that there was the absolute strictest compliance with the Memphis strip club ordinance rather than encouraging patrons to enjoy themselves. I was in the club for almost 2 hours and only got approached by 2 dancers, who were not among the ones I was interested in. Not sure I’ll go back. Not any good alternatives close by, though, that I know of.
