I'm not often disappointed by the SRI, but this time, it felt like a deflated balloon. The club was not very busy that Thursday evening. A few loners and one pair of guys together. The DJ was trying, but not trying his best, to pump some life into the proceedings. But the atmosphere was dreary. All the ladies were huddled by the fireplace, you couldn't even make out who was there or how many or if they were awake. Some sat alone, surfing the net. Others dutifully marched around looking for a dance. No one was even faking enthusiasm. Not what one has come to expect at the SRI. When I go, I expect to be fooled into thinking that everyone wants to be there. Once a dance was had by me, it was fine, just fine. But the fantasy we come for just wasn't in the cards that particular night. But, this was an anomaly, to be sure. If you're looking for a great club, this is (usually) the one.
