Bugsy's Elyria AKA Bugsy's west. I've been here a few times over the years and it was usually miss with a very occasional hit. It had been awhile but a friend from the area called me saying they were running a promotion there and asked if I wanted to meet him out there so having nothing else to do I agreed to drive out and meet him.
3 dollar cover. The club layout has been described before but has changed some since my last time there. They removed the little waist high cubes that were previously the dance area in the back and put a pool table in their place. The new dance area is now the elevated area to the left of the entrance that used to be called the champagne room. There are maybe 5 chairs with little partitions so everyone in there can pretty easily see what everyone else is doing. There's also not much privacy from the rest of the bar as the wall facing the room is opaque glass and to add to general lack of privacy feeling there are cameras mounted above which are monitored by the owner and or management from the room behind the bar so the possibilities of extras or high mileage are zero.
Regular beers are 4 dollars and I believe well drinks are 4 or 5 dollars. Pop and juice are 4 dollars except of course for the dancers. The same drink hustle of the Cleveland Bugsy's is alive here too and it seems that the only thing the dancers care about is meeting their 10 drink quota. In the past this place has always had a higher ROB quotient than most of the Cleveland area clubs and that hasn't changed. Some of them will just walk up say hello and the next thing out of their mouth is will you buy me a drink? If you decline they walk off looking for another mark. I like to get to know a dancer a bit better, feel a connection and I expect them to earn my money before I start spending it on them. I have no tolerance for insensitive ROBs. I did have one dancer, I don't recall her name, who sat down and we actually had a decent conversation about different things. She never asked for a drink, even admitted that she hated the pressure of the hustle and said other dancers did too. I ended up offering her a drink because she never pressured me. Maybe ownership can learn something from that but I doubt it because he appears to be a dumb hick driven by greed.
