I'm sentimental about Cabaret Royale, because it is the first topless bar I ever went to, about 22 years ago, when I suspect, it was closer to its heyday. A month ago, I went back for the first time in many years. It's in the same general neighborhood as some other Dallas strip clubs, like the Men's Club, Baby Dolls, and Spearmint Rhino is literally right around the corner. There's valet parking, and there's also a parking lot to the south, but its city parking and there were posted threats to tow you everywhere, so I opted for the valet.
It's a big building, with an unusually impressive lobby, still a very impressive physical plant after all of its years in business. It has two levels. The cover for the ground floor was $5, but for the upper floor, which was designated a VIP area, it was $15. That night I opted for the ground floor; some other time I'll go upstairs. The main stage is large, and there weren't really any other stations in use that night (it was a Sunday night and the place was kind of dead).
The waitress was very nice to me and got me a beer for a special price, I think $3, even though I was just a couple of minutes past the cutoff time for the special. She was very solicitous, an older lady, I think Eastern European origins, and she offered to get me not only drinks but girls.
