The Sands is one of those fish-out-of-water, what-the-hell-is-a-stripclub-doing-here? sorta neighborhood joints that seem to be a thing of the past in most cities. I would consider it a Seattle institution -- I'm not sure exactly how long it's been around, but my guess would be about 30 years at least. I first moved to Seattle as a student in the mid-80s and it seemed pretty well established when I discovered it for myself back then. Very early 70s vibe, wood-panelled rumpus room sorta feel, only darker, with lots of scantily clad chicks grinding on guys' dicks.

As I've been going here for a while, the atmosphere has remained pretty consistent, while the girls, rates, quality of dances, extras, etc. have obviously been all over the map. Walking in this joint is pretty much a crap shoot -- I've lucked out with some real young, inexperienced hotties (great for the experienced and aggressive club goer, as they tend to be less jaded and aren't really sure how far they should let you go for the money, or often just haven't learned to be super assertive yet...meaning you can usually get away with murder), I've also turned right back around and walked out after seeing nothing but two or three snaggletoothed hags pestering a half-dozen turned-off guys.

It's been a few months since I was last in, but pricing has been pretty consistent the past couple years: $20=basic lapdance (usually get better the more you spend), $40=pretty hardcore grinding, dick grabbing and wandering hands, $50/$60=HJ (sometimes through pants, sometimes skin on skin) and on up. I've personally never gone past the HJ/T*tty sucking and f*cking realm, but on the right night with the right girl, it wouldn't surprise me.
