Made my first trip to NYC...
Made my first trip to NYC recently and had to check out a few of the clubs while in town. I knew going into it, having read the reviews here on tuscl, that NYC was not going to be a place full of high-contact clubs. Still, what would a trip to the Big Apple be without a trip to a few SCs. I visited three clubs while in town and my second visit was to Gallaghers. The other two were Flashdancers and Stiletto (see separate reviews). I tried to attend a fourth club, VIP Club, but it was closed on a Sunday evening and I didn't try it again.
This club requires about a 15 minute trip by subway from Manhatten to the 40th St. Station in an area of Queens known as Long Island City (east of Manhatten, arosss the river). Then it requires a short three and one-half block walk. Be careful late at night as it's pretty deserted on the streets here after midnight except for a few people of the questionable variety. Just pay attention to your surroundings and don't make any eye contact with anyone you come across and you'll be okay. Or hail a cab to and from the subway station and it will only cost you about three bucks or so just to be safe.
$20 entry (seems standard in NYC). It has a big square bar area with a stage in the middle of the bar area and then a separate stage at the front of the club and a couple of small satelite stages. But, most people hang out around the bar, where most of the action takes place. Three girls are always on stage at the bar area and they dance three songs, switching positions occassionally so no matter where you sit at the bar your favorite girl will come into close view. This is a topless club so drink prices were slightly more reasonable than at Flashdancers. I believe a domestic beer was about $6 (more than what I'm used to in Florida, but less then the $9 charged at Flashdancers).
