Went on New Year's after midnight...

Went on New Year's after midnight with a friend. Location is not exactly "downtown" Richmond as they call it, since it is far from the bars considered to be in Richmond's downtown and Fan districts. We took a cab since it is not walking distance from any relevant Richmond nightspot Cover charge and drinks were quite expensive $10 cover and $7 for an import beer. On the inside there is a main room with two stages set on the sides of the room. The bouncers and staff not very friendly, but we sat down at a table away from the stage to get a feel for the place.

As far as the dancers went it was not good. On the plus side, most of the girls were young (early-mid 20s), some did pole tricks and showed off their flexibility. Personally though, I found the majority of the girls to be unattractive. A few of them I would describe as ugly, but many were simply average skinny girls who don't seem to have any physical gifts as far as their chosen profession. Out of 7-10 girls on staff, there was one that I could see myself going for. The girl that sat down at our table was nice enough, but left after reading our disinterest. Since I wasn't that interested in any of the talent, I did not get a price.

When looking at the wine menu, I noticed that the VIP champagne ranged from $500 for moet to $1000 for Cristal which would also included a 30 minute VIP room. Overall, it's hard to be fair and balanced about the Paper Moon experience that night. My friend, who rarely goes to strip clubs, was not anxious to return to one. I could see this place being a more female friendly, bachelor party type club; but the club really needs more attractive dancers to justify spending anything there. Everything from the guy working for tips in the bathroom to the ATM fees to the prices had a premium feel, but I just couldn't see why. I have heard that there are feature dancers, but I don't see any way to actually know when the are performing because they don't seem to have a mailing list. Unless I was convinced that there was an entirely new staff or a famous performer I can't really justify giving the downtown paper moon another shot.
