This place has had a rep for being somewhat of a house of prostitution. City of MB must have been reading the reviews lately. There's been a serious crackdown and for now no place in the area is "topless". Can anyone familiar with Fantails imagine it as a bikini bar? Neither could I, but it's true - at least until the heat is off. That made for a pretty dull visit - there wasn't even a thrill of disgust in seeing a 220 pound woman walk around nearly naked on stage in an empty room. A lot of the old "talent" has disappeared (that could be good or bad depending on one's point of view) and has been replaced by some so-so new recruits. There may be more skin action upstairs, but that will cost you. The place is the same large room with a too-effective sound system. Have to admit that the DJ played an interesting variety of new stuff with 60s rock and blessedly little heavy metal. Main bar is to left of the door, and large stage across main floor. Smaller stage and bar tucked away in a far corner that occasionally sees use if there is a crowd (which is hardly ever). Happy hour prices aren't bad but drinks get a bit pricey after 7pm.

Food is available when the "cook" is in (usually after 6pm) but I can't recommend it. Looked like mostly "Mrs. Paul's" heat and serve stuff, and pretty greasy.

This dive has survived many crackdowns over the years, and I suppose that it will survive this one and return to the old ways until the next one. If a cathouse with a mix of strung-out hookers, oversize cows and an occasional cutie on display is your place of choice, then you'll just have to wait until the undercover cops get bored to sleep and are told by city officials to go elsewhere.
