I was in the Burgh recently...
I was in the Burgh recently and decided to check this place out. I went pretty late on a Saturday night (technically Sunday morning). It was maybe around 1:00 AM or so. A detailed report follows, but for those of you you want the basics fast: I didn't like it: this place is (at best) a dive, the neighborhood and club itself has an unsafe feeling, and the dancers gave me no desire to stay more than 15 minutes.
OK, now the details...
Other folks have commented that Silky's isn't in the best neighborhood, and that parking is limited. Both of those are true. But they combine in a way that I found strangely unnerving. There is a tiny parking lot that can hold maybe 4-5 cars, and that's it-- and there's no parking on the main road (Island Ave). (There's also a parking lot next door for an apartment complex but you can't use it for parking at the club.) I was able to find some parking on a side street, but that street was unlit-- in fact, it was *very* dark-- and just the one-block walk back to the main road where Silky's was made me strangely nervous. I also had little confidence that my car would be safe where I parked it. (And, let me be clear here: I'm a fairly big, strong guy who doesn't normally feel creeped out at walking alone in the darkness or at so-called bad neighborhoods. But something about this specific environment-- I'm not sure what-- just got my spider-sense tingling.
