I visited AoS on the recommendation...

I visited AoS on the recommendation of some friends local to Detroit. I was in town for the weekend and looking to find a club more liberal (and economical than what you typically find in New York. Ace of Spades, despite some annoyances, delivered on both fronts.

As other reviewers have stated, the club is located off of 8-mile along a concentrated stretch of strip clubs. Located directly behind is a residential area which makes parking a little less risky if you choose not to valet. Still at night the area's atmosphere can leave you feeling a bit exposed (although there is a fairly well-lit bank next door whose lot you can get away with using). Once inside it's the usual pat down and a $20 cover.

The club is medium-sized with a main stage and a couple of elevated solo platforms near the bar. There are VIP booths, slightly raised behind the main stage. Despite there being a lot of girls on the floor, it seemed most were hovering in that area despite the growing number of customers in the plebe section. I took a seat at the bar and ordered a drink. Despite finishing it rather quickly, I wasn't hassled for the rest of the night which is always a plus. The one thing that immediately bothered me was that since it's Michigan, there is heavy smoking going on. It took some acclimation, but when in Rome...
