If there is such a thing...
If there is such a thing as a club being overcrowded, The Coliseum was uncomfortable on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Arriving after a meeting about 10:30, I was overwhelmed by the cigarette smoke the minute I got inside. This place is large, with two bars, a long central stage and four side stages. The bar in the rear was an area for smoking, but apparently management has decided that smoking is allowed everywhere.
Dancers were all over the floor, but none were circulating offering dances. Many with regulars. Many also waiting to be approached by customers. Average was between 7 and 8, with a few 5s thrown in.
The crowd was almost all blue jeans and t-shirts. All of them were standing around in clusters in front the bar, lining the hallways and aisles and crowding into any available open space. It was almost impossible to sit down or move around. I believe that this standing room only is the result of the stupid policy of charging $20-$25 to sit in a booth. If you don't get one of the free seats at the stage, then you are left to roam, stand or sit at the bar without charge. Otherwise rent a booth, a cost on top of mandatory valet parking $8.00, cover $10.00, mandatory coat check (middle of a brutal winter)and $9.00 drinks.
