I admit that I don't get...

I admit that I don't get out much, but I'd been to the Cricket before and had a good time. Upon reflection of my most recent visit, I think that was more due to a particular dancer than to the club overall.

Cover is cheap ($5). Drinks are reasonable ($5). And honestly, the girls are pretty good looking. But the overall vibe is not very welcoming. Not in a sense that it's shady or dangerous - I never felt unsafe or seedy there. But moreso in the sense that getting anyone's attention unless they're on stage is a challenge.

Went on a Thursday night, and the winter weather likely kept folks away. That's understandable. But there were about 5 customers and 6 dancers. One dancer on stage, one sticking to what I assume is a regular at the bar, another with two other regulars that, and two other dancers shooting the shit with the bar staff and DJ. I can appreciate when dancers aren't overly aggressive about buying lap dances, but this was too much. There was just no interest in the customers; the DJ didn't give a fuck (long, silent pauses because he was too busy socializing), dancers not giving any attention to customers aside from those at the stage (too busy gossiping with each other), bar tender somewhere in between (was able to get drinks, but always seemed like a bit of a hassle).
