Visited the Dolphin II at prime...

Visited the Dolphin II at prime time on a recent Saturday night. Past trends seem to continue here, preventing it from being as good as it could be.

The upside--several truly stunning girls were present, rating solid 9's. The drinks were also better than they have been in the past, with pours coming close to justifying the fairly high drink price as Portland clubs go. They've also resisted the urge to move stages, etc. for at least a couple of months.

The downside--the music was about 2 notches beyond the pain threshold (which you notice when you have to yell at your friends in the parking lot to counter the ringing in your ears). The DJ has mellowed a little bit over the past few months, but he too is about 2 or 3 notches past the pain threshold. It's like someone gave the DJ job to a 14-year old high-school freshman who is getting drunk for the first time and told him "Make it a party atmosphere!" Trouble is, the only thing the drunk freshman knows how to do is scream at the audience to "Make some noise!!" (Although, to be fair, his music selection IS pretty strong.) The other real downside to the D-II right now is that there were several dancers there whose looks/build were not even close to the quality you expect on a Saturday night at a good Portland club. It seemed like there were more than enough good-looking girls present to fill the stages and couches--the owner/manager ought to consider letting at least three of the least attractive girls go and see if that doesn't improve business. Either that, or you'll continue to see the tip rails empty out from time to time as one of these girls comes on stage.
