I went on a reconaissance mission...
I went on a reconaissance mission last week. I've been coming here since it was the Golden Nugget...how many of you remember that? Certainly the dancers don't...I mentioned it once and my companion reacted like I was an alien. And that gets to the problem, in a way...the bartenders and the dancers here have no respect for their customers, whatsoever. At a time where the economy is still not that strong, especially in blue-collar Baltimore, you would think they would bend over backwards (heh) to treat the occasional customer like he was king.
Not so. I came in, saw nobody I was particularly attracted to, but ordered a beer anyway. A couple of dancers came up to me, tried halfheartedly to flirt, and sneered contemptiously the moment I declined to buy them a drink. A different approach might have brought much different results...I've certainly had many hice times on the Block with dancers that were well below the 8, 9, or 10 level of the scale. And they have benefited financially with a little bit of customer service skill.
Needless to say, I guzzled my beer and moved on. Not sure if I'll be walking down those stairs again for a while.
