First let me say I have...

First let me say I have been coming to this club for at least 15 years. I used to check out other clubs outside the Baton Rouge city limits, and some in New Orleans, but that doesn't really seem worth the effort to me, any more. This former Gold Club has indeed invested time and money in upgrading the appearance of the club, to Penthouse standards-- it's nice, without being over the top. Drinks aren't cheap, but they're not the most expensive I've had in a club, either. They've apparently outsourced their parking lot attendants, which I find kind of irritating, but I guess, sadly, lots of businesses do this nowadays. Would you rather trust your car to someone you recognize, or some kid who may not be working there any more, in two weeks? (Why doesn't management ever consider questions like that?)

Any way, Penthouse is a nice place to unwind, have a few drinks. I usually don't stay past 11 or midnight, when it gets busier, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It doesn't get particularly rowdy or obnoxious, but just hard to find a spot to sit.

When it was a Gold Club, management would occasionally pressure dancers to lose weight, even dancers who weren't over-weight by much at all, and a few times they kind of "cleaned house," sending a bunch of girls packing. That sucked, because some of my favorite dancers were NOT the picture-perfect girls, but were still beautiful, and so friendly that they really were an asset to the club.

Lately, girls rotate in and out a lot quicker, and I don't see nearly as many familiar faces, over time. A lot of girls seem to be making the strip club circuit, or at least coming up to Baton Rouge from New Orleans.

That's okay, but the New Orleans girls and traveling strippers are usually a little more blatantly money-oriented, and less charming than the local girls. It's about maintaining the illusion, isn't it? But there are still hot girls, and there are still charming girls at Penthouse. I like a little more 'variety' of types of girls than the club usually has now, but it's still okay. I'd guess that about 80%, or more, of the girls are Caucasian,if that matters to you. I've met several very lovely black dancers, who are also quite nice to talk with, lately at the club. It does seem to have drifted away from too many girls with major breast augmentation-- can I get a Hallelujah?
