I heard Teddies was open again...

I heard Teddies was open again so I had to check it out this trip up to Bridgeport. Yes, Teddies is open again but it's definitely not the old Teddies! The layout is the same, down a few steps, bar on the left, stage on the right. The back ld rooms are gone and they have a large open ld area which is continuously monitored by the bouncer.

I was in late in the afternoon on Saturday, there were maybe a half dozen customers and only one dancer. Music was from the juke box. There's a metal detector at the doorway similar to the machines at the airports but the bouncer recognized me and waved me through. I've been going to this place since it was York Street Cafe (those were some good times!) In those days the ld area was in the same place with comfortable couches and chairs but nobody watched or bothered you. I can't remember the dancer's name but she'd only been dancing for a few weeks. She was fresh and attractive yet sexy and more than a little erotic.

Even so, I'll keep my options open and see what happens here. I don't have a lot of optimism that the new Teddies will even be a shadow of what the old Teddies was but I wouldn't mind if it only got back to the atmosphere that the old York Street Cafe had.
