My first visit to Dolly's Playhouse...
My first visit to Dolly's Playhouse or any of the clubs on Forest in Washington Park. arrived late Tuesday afternoon in winter, it was mostly dark and there was a pack of wild dogs in the parking lot. A concerning arrrival. Parking lot is mostly dirt with many holes. A 4-wheel drive pick-up helps.
Entered the club, paid $2 cover and no one paid any attention to me but the bartender. There were 5 dancers and maybe 7 customers. 3 really drunk customers playing pool with two of the dancers. Still I felt safe. I do think some were leary of me as I was new.
I got a drink ($5) and sat at the bar. The dancers were 3 caucasian and 2 A.A. No one dancing when I arrived, but began soon after. First dancer up was a very thin A.A. I went to tip her and got much more mileage than I expected. I got a 30 second handshake and push for VIP. VIP rates were good, $30 - $80 depending on service. I passed as I just arrived and was ignored until I tipped a $5.
Soon, every dancer in the place gave me the handshake and hard sell. Most offered similar to above. I chose an older blond who was interesting to talk to and seemed aggressive.
Went behind the beads. Tried to make it last, but halfway through first song it was out and covered. By end of next song it was over. Total cost, $2 entree, $6 drink and tip, $10 tips on stage, $50 private dance. $68 bucks, and totally satisfied.
