Stopped by on a Saturday evening...

Stopped by on a Saturday evening a couple weeks back after a lousy trip to SR. A girl there said that SR was dead b/c everyone was at Monarch's checking out a adult film star dance. Unfortunately, when I arrived at Monarch's the show was already over. I decided to stay and check out the place for the first time. Overall, the club was new and clean, but the layout was a bit strange... it seemed like it used to be some kind of restaurant and the seating didn't really seem to flow very well. The stage was super small and the seating area to the right had too many chairs and was way too bright.

Good dancer quality generally makes up for these shortcomings, but I can't say that Monarchs provided this. Dancers fell into three categories... old, ugly, and gorditas. I sat for about 30 mins hoping that there would be some talent that had been hiding in the back, but alas, that night was not my night. Overall, admission was pretty cheap and I think the dances aren't too pricey (I didn't partake), so I may give this place another shot in the future. I'll just have to wait and see if the talent level increases.
