As a dancer, I think hostessing skills, how friendly or talkative you are and your social attractiveness matter more than physical beauty or dancing skills. You will be expected to sit down with your customers for long hours and keep them entertained. They might pick you for your image but they will be turned off if you treat them wrong, especially Japanese guys expect A LOT of attention. You need to be 'genki', happy and active all the time.
