Took in Rick's twice in one...
Took in Rick's twice in one day -- first in mid-afternoon, then returning after midnight. Not to belabor the point, but the difference is night and day. The late night crowd is generally younger -- this goes for both audience and dancers -- it's hard to get a seat to yourself and it seems impossible to get any sort of real feel for who you'd like for a dance. If you're into the scene, late night Ricks is your place.
If, however, you're like me -- a little quieter, don't want to be rushed or crowded -- Ricks is heaven during the day. The dancers might be a little older, but that also makes them a little wiser and more experienced and -- dammit -- more fun. VIP prices are all over the map -- some dancers will make you a deal for multiple dances. The dancers come in all shapes and sizes here -- mileage runs from sublime to ridiculous. I like to go during the shift change -- you get the day dancers trying to make a few more dollars before they leave, and the night dancers just warming up. Good stuff.
A friendly reminder for you VIP guys: if you're not getting a dance in the VIP, go back on the floor. It's not as bad as it used to be -- at least the booths give you a little separation. But dudes, you're creeping me out back there. Plus, you're taking up space. Go stare at the naked ladies on stage -- that's what they're there for.
