Several years ago I lived near Waldorf when Choo Choos and Rosies were Friday night hot spots filled with lots of dancers, boisterous customers and plenty of drinking. Last night I found myself travelling through there on my way back up Washington, DC and decided to check out Spice Lounge. Unfortunately, the old expression is true - you can't go home again. Spice Lounge is a nice looking place with plenty of parking, a decent number of dancers and top shelf drinks. There's even a pool table. What it doesn't have is customers or skin. On this Friday evening, there were 8 to 10 dancers and about 5 customers. Each dancer went on stage in their bikini and did 3 numbers with little enthusiasm and no removal of clothes - not even taking on their bottoms to show a g-string or their tops to show pasties. For me this is not entertainment. I decided to get a 420 lap dance to see if I could generate any excitement. The dance was held in an open back room with a manager hovering nearby and my dancer lamenting his presence. After the dance, I hit the road.
I understand this is the only club nearby and I can only assume that the Waldorf townsfolk have put in place legal restrictions on a man's fun. I just wonder how Spice Lounge will survive with so few customers. I suppose if you want to see some bikinis, play pool and have a quiet drink, this is the place to go. But if I lived in Waldorf, my choice would be to move or take a drive north to DC, Baltimore or West Virginia to see what I seek in a club.
