An over-thirty year era in Denver...

An over-thirty year era in Denver comes to an end this week with the closing of the old Shotgun Willie's location and the opening of the new facility mere feet to the east and north of the old building.

The club has been sharply on the corner of Colorado Blvd and Virginia Av in the tiny urban enclave of Glendale since it began, taking over for a Country-Western bar that had previously occupied the building. The ownership and management deserves strong credit and kudos for keeping the place up and making many great improvements over the years, but it was obvious there was only so much that could be done with the existing building which dated back to the mid-1950s and was showing its age in a number of ways that thankfully was not apparent to clientele. The club closes its old location with a lot of memories, smiles, and more for many from over the years.

The new building reportedly has a soft opening this WED 6 NOV, with the official grand opening the following WED 13 NOV. Expect a lot of traffic into the new establishment. Reportedly the layout is quite similar to the old club with a number of refinements and easier movement through space with the increased square footage. Eight stages will be present, and there is still going to be two bar stations but with increased numbers of taps present. The menu is going to be expanded with a pizza oven providing the best of the new features.
