It was the hottest Saturday so...

It was the hottest Saturday so far this year, and after a day riding the rides at Six Flags, I decided to check out the rides of a different sort. I hadn’t been to the Mardi Gras in years, and with the generally good press the place has received on this site, I decided to stop in and cool off.

The Mardi Gras is in the middle of Springfield in an area with other nightclubs and an adult video shop. Teddy B’s, another strip club, is diagonally across the street. Depending on which side you enter you’ll end up in one of two bar areas, one of which has the girls. The building seems to be a converted warehouse, and the service elevator inside has been converted into a day-glo passageway between the bar areas. A VIP room is off to the side, and the champagne room is upstairs.

The stage essentially surrounds one of the bars, and at first glance it looks like the girls are dancing on the bar. The stage has a few gaps to let the waitresses in and out, and the girls have to step over them to get to all the customers. That Saturday afternoon five or six dancers came out for several songs at a time. The DJ was kind of annoying, yelling at my corner of the room for not laying out bills for the dancers. Maybe that’s because most of that round of dancers weren’t that appealing…except one.
