The Foxy Lady has always been...
The Foxy Lady has always been one of the best strip clubs in Providence. It has a large selection of attractive ladies of various shapes, sizes and ethnicities- someone for everyone’s tastes. Its classy enough for a night out with friends, yet naughty enough to visit alone for some real fun. And now its Champagne Room is finally on par with the two other main Providence strip clubs- Cadillac Lounge and Club Desire. Here’s the basics. Foxy is located only about a quarter mile or so off I-95 and Rt 146 close to downtown. There’s an entrance ramp to get on I-95 directly next to the club- so its easy to get out of there late at night. After pulling into the parking lot there’s a valet parking attendant in a booth on the left. If you can squeeze past the party buses, limos and stripper’s cars parked out front, there’s free self-parking behind the club. However, the self parking lot can sometimes be deserted and sketchy at night and you have to walk all the way around the building to get in. Also on busier nights cars double park and you can get boxed in. The entrance to the club is up a ramp and stairs into a large glass foyer that looks like your at a movie theater. Recently they added a metal detector you have to pass thru. Then you pay the doorman a $10 cover. First impression upon entering this club is that its very upscale inside- like a club in NYC or Vegas. Its also a very large club. Even so, it gets really crowded here on Friday and Saturday nights- to the point that its difficult to move around. On Friday and Saturday nights theres about 40 to 50 strippers working. The dancers are for the most part attractive, mostly in the 6 to 8 range. There's a few pushing the 9 range, but like the other Providence clubs, theres honestly currently no level 10 stunners. There’s a wide assortment of body shapes and sizes- from thin to thick, tall to short, and natural to fake. There’s a wide variety of ethnicities to choose from- white (mostly Italian, Irish or Portuguese), black, latina (but not as many Brazilians as at Cadillac Lounge) and even several Asians. Most of the ladies seem to be in there mid 20’s to early 30’s. Almost all the ladies have tattoos and many have large tats- similar to Cadillac Lounge. All the ladies circulate around asking to do lap dances and a few even will sit with you for some conversation- but there’s no pestering or hard sells. The patrons here are mostly twenty or thirty something. Its a mix of partying kids, couples, bachelor parties, white collar professionals and even sometimes professional athletes. There’s not many shady looking people- unlike Cadillac Lounge. Many of the patrons come well dressed and look like there headed to one of the city’s upscale trendy bars instead. Foxy also has a lot more female patrons- both accompanied ladies and groups of singles ladies, which is not always such a bad thing. One negative here is that the DJ sometimes plays the music way too loud. He plays a lot of funky techno as well as some rap, rock and a few oldies- you’ll even get Billy Joel and Frank Sinatra, but only downstairs ;) The techno can be annoying as hell but the upside is that if your doing a lap dance the song can go on forever. There’s also lots of strobe rights going that nearly blind you- its almost like being at a rave sometimes. If you’re an epileptic, I would steer clear of this place. The club layout is as follows. After you pay and enter the club there’s a girl at a table selling beer immediately to your right which is almost always a rip off- a beer at the bar is usually $2 less. Also on the right is a small lounge-like area with a mini stage that’s almost always empty. Farther down on the right is a hallway that leads to the ATM, ladies room and finally the outdoor smoking patio. If you go to the left after entering the club, first comes the large main bar where a beer costs between $4 (domestic) and $6 (imports). Unfortunately, few seats at the bar have stage views. Then the men’s room is on the right. Then comes the main stage which is a long runway type with lots of seating. The ladies enter the stage from behind a curtain often wearing evening gowns then do a quick strip tease routine and sometimes brief pole tricks. There’s always two ladies on the main stage that normally rotate up for 3 or 4 songs. The dancers usually only get topless on the main stage. The rules at the main stage allow only a little discreet touching- unless you’re a female patron! Looking onto the main stage from the left is a large open room reserved for VIP parties that has lounge-style sofa seating. Straight ahead there’s non-reserved tables and chairs for ordinary folks. To the left of the main stage there’s a glass booth where bachelor parties can pay to have their bachelor molested in a steamy shower show by a nude stripper- thankfully done in a much more tame fashion then at Club Desire. In the left back corner there’s another bar that’s on a raised platform that looks out across the club, along with non-reserved lounge-style sofa seating. Between the back bar and the main stage lies a small stage called the “solid gold†stage. The solid gold stage has only one dancer who does sets in tandem with the strippers on the main stage. The solid gold stage has a bit more action then the main stage. You sit higher, so often the dancer may make her way off the stage right into your lap during her performance. Lap dances are done in a room off in the far right corner. There’s a big sign at the entrance of the LD room stating the dances cost $25 each, which you pay directly to your entertainer (usually after the dance). Most get fully nude only if you ask for that or do two songs. Unfortunately the lap dance room is a maze where you pass and sometimes trip over nearly every other patron getting a dance before you find a booth that’s free- so there’s not much privacy unless your lucky enough to get one of the coveted end booths. At least most of the booths don’t face each other, which is better then at Caddy, but not as good as at Desire where the booths are enclosed. The lap dance rules are certainly more liberal today then in the past- all of the dancers will let your hands roam freely except for the kitty. But, if you want more, then its time to literally head downstairs- to the Champagne Room. The stairs leading to the downstairs are thru a glass door across from the main stage. At the bottom of the stairs there’s a sound proof booth for making phone calls. Then there’s a short hallway off to the left leading to another bar and stage on your right that you can see thru a window in the hallway. The club calls this the “PJT†Room- no idea what that means? For anyone who went to Foxy back in the day, the PJT Room is where the wrestling arena was and has a similar feel to the old Gold Room- although its not billed as all nude. Anyway, it has a bar that also doubles as a stage- like the old Gold Room. Just like the solid gold stage upstairs, you sit higher and there’s more contact then at the main stage. You also tend to see more “downstairs†too. Only one lady is on stage at a time and her sets are done in tandem with the sets upstairs. IMO downstairs has a totally different vibe then upstairs. There’s usually a lot fewer customers and its a lot quieter- especially since the volume of the music is way lower and there’s no strobe lights. The downside is that not to many ladies circulate down there unless they’re on stage. Along with the PJT Room, the Champagne Rooms are also located downstairs. Just like with the PJT Room, the club has weird names for the Champagne Room like “Cabanas†and “Sky Boxesâ€. There both private enclosed individual booths with cushy leather sofas. IMO the only difference seems to be that a Sky Box has a flat screen tv and you have to do an hour. The Cabanas can be done in 15 minute increments. A 15 minute Cabana costs 160 (60 to the club/100 to the entertainer). 30 minutes costs 300 (100 to the club/200 to the entertainer). I’ve been quoted 500 to 600 for a Sky Box for an hour. You pay the club for the Cabana and Sky Box at the PJT Bar and then a bouncer escorts you and your entertainer thru the glass doors into the CR. Whether you do a Cabana or Sky Box, make sure you make a pit stop at the restroom next to the PJT bar to stock up on some paper towels before you enter the CR! Inside the CR theres another bouncer who says what booths are free and keeps track of time. Fortunately he does not patrol the room or look in, and only yells from a distance when time is up. Theres a restroom directly off the CR that is reserved for CR customers only which is a nice touch. You can hit it on the way out and its stocked with everything you need to freshen up. If that doesn’t work, you could always buy yourself a shower show upstairs! IMO Foxy’s CR set up has a slight edge over its competitors. It costs a lot less then Caddy’s and unlike Desire’s a-la-carte CR which looks $30 cheaper at first glance- Foxy’s CR tends to be all inclusive. Its also more removed from the rest of the club then both Caddy and Desire’s, and feels a lot more private. Bottom line- with more attractive dancers and finally a worthwhile CR, IMO the Foxy Lady is on its way to being once again Providence’s best strip club. That’s why I find myself coming here more often, both literally and figuratively.
