I stopped into Big Daddy's Love...
I stopped into Big Daddy's Love Acts twice on a recent Saturday night. The first time the dancer on stage used her body in fun ways to collect the dollar bill that I held out for her and that she placed between my teeth. She wasn't much to look at, but tipping was fun. I came back at 2am that same night to find a different set of dancers, and what an amazingly aggressive group it was. Before I sat down a dancer grabbed me by the hand, pointed me to a chair, sat next to me, and while playing with me through my pants tried to get me to do a private. I declined; she left, and within a minute a second dancer was in that chair. Same sales pitch. Same result. A third dancer was in the chair. I was enjoying the pitches! Interestingly, they all had memorized the same script: "I'm ____. What's your name? Where are you from? First time in New Orleans?" And the prices were the same -- $40 for a one-song lap in the back; $260 for 30 minutes upstairs. I did have two laps from two African-American dancers, and they were good, but clearly they weren't going to try to do anything but use the lap to entice me into going upstairs. Not at those prices! I left after the second, glad that I had tried the Bourbon Street experience, but amazed at the price.
