Lexington is known as the “Thoroughbred City,” a moniker that refers to its horseracing history. Cowboy’s isn’t a place you’re likely to see dancers that match that reputation for the best of the breed, but that isn’t to say you can’t find a winner or two in the field.

The club is located in northeast Lexington, just off New Circle Road. Finding the place on your first visit can be a bit tricky, since it’s tucked in behind a small strip shopping center. Once you’ve arrived there is ample free parking, and while the lot isn’t visible from any main roads it didn’t give me any serious concerns about safety (though naturally one should always observe normal precautions in an urban area at night).

The TUSCL profile lists a $5 cover, but on this particular Thursday night I wasn’t charged to enter. The club itself is fairly small, though it doesn’t feel cramped at all (at least on a slow weeknight). You enter near the corner of the room, with the bar to your right against the wall, main and satellite stages in the center of the room, and lap dance and VIP areas on the far side. There was a prominent “no smoking” sign posted, but it was being flagrantly ignored by a majority of customers and dancers so I assume it’s a local law that isn’t enforced here.
